Petexbatun has one of the largest archaeological sites in the region called Aguateca, located in Sayaxche. This site is divided into three areas: the epicenter which has a palace that is associated with other structures, a causeaway and a main square.

Itinerary

Day 1

Departure from your hotel in Flores towards Sayaxché, traveling by road for approximately 1.5 hours.

Arrival in Sayaxché and transfer to a boat or 4x4 vehicle, depending on the route and conditions, to head towards Aguateca.

Arrival at Aguateca. Begin exploration of the site, visiting key areas such as the epicenter, the palace, the causeway, and the main square. Learn about the strategic location of the site and its defensive structures built into the natural landscape

Continue exploring the surrounding areas of Aguateca, including its unique cliff formations and scenic views over the Petexbatun Lagoon.

Departure from Aguateca, returning by boat or 4x4 vehicle to Sayaxché.

Arrival in Sayaxché and departure by vehicle back to Flores.

Arrival at your hotel in Flores, concluding the tour.
