Witness a Mayan ceremony in the Sacred Caves of Lake Atitlan. Starting in Panajachel, you will transfer to the trailhead entrance to the Sacred Caves. Consisting of 4 caves, the site is considered one of the most sacred places on the lake. After a brief 20-minute walk, you'll reach the caves where you can watch local shamans perform fire cleansing rituals. Your guide will explain the history of the caves, used by local Mayans for rituals for centuries, and you will learn about Mayan spiritual beliefs. Outside the caves, you can enjoy panoramic views of Lake Atitlan and its surroundings.

We cannot guarantee shamans conducting ceremonies at the site. They are there most days, however, these are authentic rituals and cannot be scheduled.
