Overview

The Yaxha National Park, with an extension of 37,760 hectares, houses ancient cities like Yaxha, Topoxte, Nakum and Naranjo, which played a crucial role in the region's social and political organization for over 1,500 years. This refuge combines biodiversity and pre-Hispanic cultural heritage. Recognized as a Humedal of International Importance (RAMSAR), it stands out for its impressive lagoons and wetlands, vital for migratory birds. The Lagoons of Yaxha and Sacnab, visible from several archaeological monuments, enhance their scenic beauty.
