Join us on an introductory tour to birdwatching to experience Peten's diverse flora and fauna. With a local guide, you will head to a local nature reserve to search from the most beautiful bird species in the area. You'll have the opportunity to see different birds through a professional telescope.

We will hear bird calls, see them on the water and in trees, and perhaps see them fly. This tour ideal for nature lovers who don't have a background in birdwatching but want to get started - experienced birders are welcome to join as well!

Itinerary

Day 1

Departure from the Hotel

Meet your expert guide who will greet you and provide essential information about the reserve, the bird species you might encounter, and the guidelines to follow.

Initial Walk: Begin with a gentle stroll along easy trails, making stops to observe and listen to the birds. Your guide will assist you in identifying species and explaining their characteristics.

Venture into dense vegetation to discover tree-dwelling birds like toucans, hummingbirds, and woodpeckers.

ake a brief pause to hydrate and enjoy a light snack. This is a great opportunity to share impressions and ask your guide any questions.

Continue exploring the remaining trails, making sure to catch a glimpse of any last bird species and savoring the natural surroundings.

Board the vehicle for the journey back to the hotel.

What You Will See & Do

If you’re lucky, you might see raptors soaring as they hunt for prey.
Various species of ducks, such as the mallard or the northern pintail, which are common in lakes and wetlands.
Observe local vegetation that attracts birds and provides crucial habitats.
Hummingbirds: Small and vibrant, these birds are often hard to spot but fascinating to see when perched on flowers.
Toucans: With their distinctive large, colorful beaks, they are hard to miss.
Owls and Barn Owls: Although they are typically more active at dawn or dusk, they can sometimes be spotted in the morning.
