Overview

Join our rappelling tour of the Caves of B'omb'il Pek and enjoy an adrenaline-filled experience, perfect for the more adventurous tourist.

Our tour begins departing from Coban. We will make our way to the caves in private transport, about a two-hour journey. Once on-site, we will have an orientation and safety briefing before beginning the rappelling tour. The B'omb’il Pek Caves were an important site of Mayan pilgrimage and rituals.

To enter the cave, you will rappel to the bottom of a deep gorge where a lush forest is growing. Once in the cave, you can admire the remains of ancient Maya culture including altars, ceramic pieces and the first cave paintings to be discovered in Guatemala. To reach the cave paintings, you must crawl through two narrow rock passages, approximately one meter (3.25 feet) wide. We will enjoy a packed lunch before returning to Coban.
