Overview

Join us for a coffee tour with a twist! On our Coban Coffee Tour, we will visit a local coffee cooperative where we will tour the coffee fields, learn about coffee production, and have the opportunity to zipline over the plantation!

Departing from Coban, you will meet your local guide and travel to the nearby Chicoj coffee cooperative run by local Maya Q’eqchi coffee farmers. During a guided tour of the coffee plantation, you will learn about the history of Guatemala’s coffee and the process of making coffee, from plant to cup, including the coffee harvest, fermentation, roasting and more. Next, you'll have the opportunity to complete the plantations zipline course. The course consists of 7 ziplines that cover 750 meters and you'll pass over the coffee fields, banana trees and the nearby river. At the end of the zipline course, we will have a coffee tasting to try the delicious coffee produced by the cooperative and you'll have the opportunity to buy ground coffee and local handicrafts.

Itinerary

Day 1

Your driver will be waiting for you at your hotel.

Meet your local guide, who will give you a warm welcome and provide a brief introduction to the tour.

Tour the coffee plantation and learn about the different stages of coffee cultivation, from planting to harvesting. Discover the traditional and modern techniques used by coffee growers.

Meet members of the Maya Q'eqchi cooperative and learn about their production process and cultural traditions influencing coffee production.

Explore banana crops and other local agricultural products. Learn about the diversity of crops and their impact on the local economy.

Enjoy an exciting zipline ride through the lush landscape, with panoramic views of the river and plantation. The 7 lines cover 750 meters of pure adrenaline.

Return to the starting point and participate in a coffee tasting where you can sample different varieties of coffee produced on the plantation.

Take the opportunity to buy fresh ground coffee and local crafts. Every purchase directly supports the Maya Q'eqchi cooperative and its community projects.
